Current and former CUNY faculty and staff discuss barriers, opportunities and action steps around farming, composting, food justice, food sovereignty and hunger.

Recently the NYC Food Policy Center helped convene the third in a series of CUNY-wide dialogues on teaching, research and service on food and food policy at the City University of New York.

This meeting was held at NYC College of Technology which boasts a strong culinary and hospitality program. Representatives from many CUNY colleges were in attendance and discussed issues and action steps around campus food, food justice and food activism, pedagogy/teaching sustainable food, food systems careers and workforce development, and food handling on campus, from gardening to compost.

Students in the culinary and hospitality program prepared and served attendees breakfast (fresh baked muffins, artisanal jams, and fruit) and a three course lunch.

Special thanks to our City Tech hosts for providing the perfect setting for a productive meeting.
